M3GAN 2.0 - Exoskeleton

It was a pleasure to work with director Gerard Johnstone again on the sequel to his smash-hit 2022 sci-fi horror M3GAN. For M3GAN 2.0, we designed and manufactured an exoskeleton.

In the film, this suit enables its wearer to move through the world in ways they wouldn’t otherwise be capable. It assists with physical tasks, provides support for those who are injured, and can be programmed with a series of actions. For the character Gemma, played by Allison Williams, the suit required a careful balance: a slick silhouette that would sit tight to her body while also making her look formidable.

In other words, it needed to be a wearable product and convincingly resemble an enhanced soldier. Our artists achieved this by exploring options inspired by modern product design with a fashionable, consumer-friendly aesthetic - suits that sported high-gloss, machine finishes and prominent, quarterback-like shoulders.
