Arsenal Barge

Occasionally, our artists are presented with internal creative challenges, which enables our studio to expand our repertoire of techniques and refine our skills. These challenges also provide us with the opportunity to design for properties that we have long desired to explore.

The following design is an exploration of futuristic defense solutions for space piracy.

The SEKURE™ Arsenal Barge is a fully manned military-grade bunker that attaches to the outside of freighters. They are hired for round trip high-value and large bulk interplanetary shipping. The barge is equipped for comms relay, has a small anti-pirate interception fleet, and even habitation quarters for the crew.

The idea was inspired by a short documentary about onboard private military contractors who protect boats and shipments from pirates and hijackers around the coast of Somalia. It was an interesting thought exercise to transpose a real-world concept into a space setting.
