Marking the centenary of World War I, Weta Workshop joined forces with New Zealand's national museum, TE PAPA, to create an exhibition that explores the ill fated, 8 month GALLIPOLI campaign. Told through the eyes and words of eight New Zealanders that experienced the conflict in Gallipoli, the ground-breaking exhibition features 3-D mapped projections, miniatures, dioramas and gigantic, hyper realistic 2.4 scale FIGURES of the seven soldiers and one nurse. http://gallipoli.tepapa.govt.nz/about
Along with the giant silicone figures and other specialised content, the artists from Weta Workshop also produced colossal digital murals for the exhibition. Capturing pivotal moments from the campaign in excruciating detail, each painting took several weeks to complete and required extra computing power to cope with images that ranged between 23,000 and 30,000 pixels in width.
