Sunny - MiscBots

We were thrilled to work in collaboration with Apple TV and A24 on the 2024 mystery thriller series 'Sunny', based on Colin O’Sullivan’s novel 'The Dark Manual'. Our design team worked with Director Lucy Tcherniak and Writer Katie Robbins to create a number of unique robotic characters.

Filling out the world with an assortment of robotic helpers was essential to establish the feel of technology in the world. Waiters, trash-bots, mascots, general service bots, and Illegal underground junk league bots were all designed. We tried creating different design languages and forms to give the feel of a competitive robotics market.

Creating the modified (and probably highly illegal) junk bots was incredibly enjoyable. Figuring interesting ways to attach blades, spikes, and saws to cause maximum damage to the other combatants was endless fun!
