The Creator - Joshua

Back in 2019 we were approached by Gareth Edwards and his Producer Jim Spencer to discuss Gareth’s new project, The Creator. An original sci-fi property doesn’t come around often, and we jumped at the opportunity to provide early blue sky visuals, and eventually design and manufacture of specialty props and costumes.

Joshua, played by John-David Washington, has a variety of costume looks throughout the film. The brief for Joshua’s combat outfit was to make him look capable in a military setting, but as a ride-along guy or war correspondent, and also less fully equipped than the soldiers around him. We combined the graphic look of a plate carrier and t-shirt with some astronaut under-suit and integrated tech elements.

We also designed a couple of Joshua’s more casual looks, from the more sci-fi take on a classic Vietnam jacket, to styling his third act civilian look.
